Guernsey employees undertake third beach clean
A group of employees from our Guernsey office completed their third beach clean as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

The company pledged to carry out beach cleaning for the whole of 2016, following a successful inaugural event last October conducted as part of its focus on health and wellbeing.

During the first group clean, around 38 adults and children, including volunteers from the Guernsey College Football Academy, found a giant piece of driftwood and a huge fish when they tackled Petit Port beach. Earlier this year, volunteers turned their attention to Fort Pezeries on the island’s south-west coast. Again, they were joined by members of the Guernsey College Football Academy.

Last weekend, employees and their families collected rubbish at Champs Rouget, a small bay on the island’s north-west coast.

Lisa Vidamour, Group Operations Manager, said: “We have retrieved a substantial amount of rubbish each time the team has hit the beaches, discovering all sorts – from bits of broken fishing equipment, tyres, old barbecues and even a full seat out of a car.

“It’s a great opportunity not only to get the team together in a healthy, outdoor activity, but to give something back to the community at the same time. Across all three jurisdictions we work with our communities to try to make a difference.”
